  • Vaccination Certificates: Yellow Fever Inoculation is a requirement only if the journey to the Republic of Namibia entails passing through the Yellow Fever area of Africa by any means other than by a scheduled air service. The validity of a Yellow Fever certificate begins 10 days after the date of vaccination.
  • Malaria is endemic in the Northern and Eastern parts of Namibia. This includes the Etosha area. Visitors are well advised to commence a course of prophylactics, especially if visiting these regions during the rainy season December to April. Use insect repellents and dress accordingly. Mosquito nets are available at most Post Offices and camping equipment stores and are inexpensive
  • HIV / AIDS. Namibia has the third highest rate of the infection in the World. Beware.
  • Medical Services in Namibia are of a reasonably high standard, but only in the main towns. Emergencies and accidents occurring in outlaying areas can incur expensive transportation fees to major centres where suitable treatment is available. Medical treatment in Namibia is expensive. Visitors are advised to have comprehensive travel and medical insurance cover.
  • Medical Evacuation Services.  Medical rescue and evacuation services are available in Namibia. Visitors are advised to have comprehensive travel and medical insurance cover.
  • Blood Transfusion. The Blood Transfusion Service Of Namibia carefully screens all blood products for transmissible diseases including hepatitis and HIV / AIDS. Blood is donated by selected and unpaid volunteers.
