Karasburg is a small town that lays on the B3 road only 115km from the Namibia / South Africa border post of Ariamsvlei.
Apart from the town serving the outlaying farming community. There
are some excellent game and guest farms in this area. The train
stops here, as this at the end of the rail route from Namibia to
South Africa. You'll have to bus it from here to Upington.
Karasburg is the first town in Namibia on this main trucking route
and thus is fully
equipped to serve the needs of the road transport
industry and car driver.
This area of Namibia can experience extremes in weather conditions.
Summer temperatures can
and often do reach the mid-40ºc. and it
is common in winter for temperatures to drop below freezing, coupled
with an ice-cold east wind. The mountains around this area are quite
picturesque and nearby is Warmbad.
